Pune, 10th November 2022: It has been observed that colleges and universities are not refunding fees to students. This is a violation of University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. Therefore, the UGC has given a clear warning to take action against the concerned colleges and universities. UGC has published a circular on its website for action in case of non-refund of fees.

In August, the UGC clarified that if students cancel their admissions by October 31, the entire fee will be refunded. However, UGC has mentioned that complaints, court cases, and right-to-information applications have been filed against universities and colleges for not returning fees, and UGC has warned of taking action against the concerned universities and colleges.

It has been clarified by the UGC that the form of action will be to disqualify colleges and universities from getting grants, withholding grants, recommending the university to withdraw the affiliation of the college, recommending to the Ministry of Education to withdraw the approved status if it is a recognized university, and recommending action to the state government to take action.
