Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th February 2024: Mugutlal Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Dehu Road Division, has been swiftly transferred amidst speculation within the Pimpri Chinchwad city police force. The transfer reportedly occurred immediately after Mugutlal Patil’s name surfaced in an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) action.

The ACB conducted a sting operation in the parking area of a private hospital near Pune Railway Station, leading to the arrest of a vehicle driver. According to the ACB, the driver confessed to accepting a bribe on behalf of Assistant Commissioner of Police Mugutlal Patil.

The incident stems from a fraud complaint concerning a plot on the Katraj-Kondhwa bypass road, which was assigned to Mugutlal Patil for investigation. The complainant alleged that a bribe of 5 lakh rupees was demanded to facilitate assistance and prevent the filing of a fraud case against them. Initial investigations revealed that a sum of 1 lakh rupees had been accepted as the first instalment of the bribe.

Following the revelation of this matter, ACP Mugutlal Patil was promptly transferred. In addition, Assistant Police Inspector Vasant Devkate of Dehu Road Police Station has been attached to the Control Room, while Police Sub-Inspector Soham Dhotre has been suspended.
