Pune: A Celebration of Tradition and Talent at Vosantotsav on Day 2

Pune, 18th January 2025: The 18th Vasantotsav commenced with a mesmerizing Carnatic music performance by sisters Ranjani and Gayatri. The festival, organized by the Vasantarao Deshpande Pratishthan, is in its 18th edition and is being held at Suryakant Kakade Farms, Kothrud.
Renowned Carnatic vocalists and violinists, Ranjani and Gayatri, began their performance in the first half of the evening, showcasing a remarkable connection. Their voices and instruments intertwined effortlessly, striking a pleasing balance that resonated with the audience and left a lasting impression of elegance and unity.

Ranjani and Gayatri, celebrated for their Carnatic vocal duets, initiated their performance with Raaga Kalavati, presenting a composition in Adi Talam. They then sang a Tamil composition in Raaga Ranjani, followed by a tribute to Saint Tyagaraja Swami on his Samadhi Day, performing a composition in Rupak Talam.

Their rendition of Raga Jayajayvanti and a complex Pallavi in nine talas, Khanda Jati Triputa Talam, left the audience spellbound. The sisters concluded their performance with an Abhang by Saint Janabai, ‘Vithoba Chala Mandirat’, in Raga Marubihag. The crowd also witnessed Tamil compositions by Papanasam Sivan and various ragas of Carnatic music, bringing the evening to a resonant and memorable close.

Ranjani and Gayatri were accompanied by Ramakrishnan on the violin, Delhi Sairam on the mridangam, and Krishna on the ghatam. Snehal Damale and Vighnesh Joshi anchored the event.
