Pune, 31st March 2022: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College has admitted 78 students in the first batch of the MBBS course. The remaining seats will be filled up after the special round of admissions by the Maharashtra CET cell.

The corporation faced many hurdles to start a medical college. There were many drawbacks to the process of starting this college therefore the national medical commission refused to permit admission to the current academic year. After that PMC rapidly completed the work related to classrooms, libraries, laboratories and hostels. The college received permission from the centre in the 2nd week of March. After that, the state government also issued a government resolution (GR) to permit admission for this year.

By that time two rounds of medical admissions were already completed therefore the college was included in the third round of admission. As of now 78 out of 100 seats for the MBBS course have been filled and the remaining seats will be filled after the special round by the CET Cell, said dean Dr Ashish Banginwar.

It is also seen that students always give priority to colleges in Pune. This time also, many students cancelled their admission from the colleges in other districts like Mumbai, Washim, Baramati, Gondia, Nashik and Satara to enrol in colleges in Pune.
