Pune: 71 Dangerous Buildings In Bhor; Administration Neglects Accident Prone Area
Bhor, 18th May 2023: 71 properties including some old houses and buildings in Bhor are in dangerous condition and there are a large number of unauthorized structures built next to it. Therefore, citizens cannot demolish the said dangerous buildings or repair them.
Due to the negligence of the municipality, an accident can happen at any moment in these places. Municipalities issue notices every year before monsoon. However, the buildings remain as they are. There are no permanent solutions, hence, the citizens are expressing their displeasure.
The Bhor Municipality has issued notices to 71 house owners to move, repair or demolish their houses and buildings before the onset of monsoon as their houses and buildings are dangerous. 18 of those buildings are uninhabited, and some of the remaining homeowners want to demolish or build new ones.
Meanwhile, dangerous buildings are increasing day by day in Bhor. Currently, with one month left before the onset of monsoon, dilapidated buildings have become more dangerous. If one building falls, the neighboring building will also be hit. It is reported that the building is also shaken by children playing and jumping. Stormy winds and rain can cause roofs and walls to collapse.
The old houses in the city are 50 years old and the encroachments around it are also around 10 to 15 years old. It is seen that MSEDCL has also supplied electricity to all such encroachments. Therefore, the concerned people are doing business without paying any tax to the municipality for several years.
Therefore, the house owners of Bhor are demanding that such encroachments be removed immediately. Some homeowners have even started repairing dangerous buildings on their own. All eyes are on how the corporator and municipal administration will take action against the encroachers.
