Pune: 7,000 Police Personnel To Be Deployed To Maintain Law And Order During Ganeshotsav

Pune, 5th September 2024: Pune is all set to welcome Bappa on Saturday, (7th September). There will be strict security in the city, as well as in the suburbs during the festival period. A total of 7,000 personnel from Pune Police and other units will be deployed during the festival.

Under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Special Branch G Sridhar has planned the bandobast duties. Keeping in mind the rush in the Peth areas of the city during the festival period, the police have planned the security. Plainclothes police personnel will be deployed to prevent the theft of mobile phones, jewellery, and other inappropriate activities.

It is informed that 5,000 police personnel and officials, Rapid Action Force (RAF), crime branch teams, police personnel called from outside, home guard force personnel, and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) units will be deployed during the festival. During the festival period, crowded areas including 5 Manache Ganpati mandals will be inspected by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). Trained dogs of the squad, and police personnel will check the crowded places four times a day.

As many as 1,800 CCTV cameras in the city will monitor the festive crowd and activities. The police have instructed the workers of the mandals to install CCTV cameras in the mandap area. The crime branch has prepared a list of goons and preventive action has been initiated against them.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar informed that 18 Police Help Centers will be opened in the central part of the city during the festival. The operations of the help centres will continue round the clock till the end of the festival. Staff from the local police station, special branch, crime branch, and traffic branch will be deployed in this centre. RAF will be deployed at six locations during the festival. RAF personnel will monitor the crowd from the tower.

He stated that incidents of jewelry and mobile theft from women occurred during the festival period. Security will be deployed to prevent any obscene act. Harassers who molest women in the crowd will be caught and their pictures will be posted in the main chowks and they will also face a Parade.
