Pune: 62-Year-Old Duped in Rs 9 Lakh LIC Fraud Case, Police Investigate

Bavdhan, 27th May 2024: A 62-year-old resident of Bavdhan has been defrauded of Rs 9 lakh after surrendering his LIC policy. The fraud occurred between May 13, 2023, and January 17, 2024.

The victim has lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station, leading to the registration of a case against the mobile phone holders of numbers 7058377794 and 9028422763, as well as individuals identified as Deepak Jadhav and Ganesh Patil.

According to the police, the accused persuaded the complainant to surrender his LIC policy worth Rs 9 lakh and invest the amount in bonds similar to those issued by IFCI, promising an attractive interest rate of 11.2%. Gaining the trust of the complainant, the accused managed to secure the investment. However, the victim received only Rs 24,795 in returns, resulting in a loss of Rs 8,75,205.

The Hinjawadi police station (Pimpri Chinchwad police) has registered a case and is conducting further investigations to apprehend the culprits and recover the defrauded amount.
