Pune: 43 Passengers Injured As Bus Collides With Stationery Truck Near Manchar

Manchar, 7th December 2023: In the early hours of Thursday, an accident took place on the Pune-Nashik National Highway at Peth (Ambegaon taluka), near Manchar. A private luxury bus collided with a stationary goods truck, resulting in injuries to 43 passengers on board.

The Manchar police, along with local villagers, promptly organized the transportation of the injured individuals. While some were taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Manchar, those with more severe injuries were transported to YCM Hospital in Pimpri. Notably, all the injured passengers were pilgrims from Nepal.

The goods truck (MP09 MH 4231) was headed to Pune and had been stationary on the roadside for some time. The bus, en route to Pune via Manchar, failed to notice the truck and collided with its rear. The impact jolted the sleeping passengers awake, prompting cries for help. Local villagers and passing motorists rushed to assist, with the police arriving shortly thereafter to initiate relief efforts.

The list of injured passengers includes individuals of varying ages, such as Dipesh Parihar, Ram Parihar, Hukuma Oli, Deepasingh Thakur, and others. The Manchar police conducted an on-site investigation, documenting the details. Yashwantrao Chavan of the Manchar police has visited the hospital to record statements from bus driver Shanta Ram Singh, a resident of Haryana, and the injured passengers. The goods truck driver, Gorelal Solanki from Rajpur, Madhya Pradesh, is also among those injured.

The exact condition of the injured and the sequence of events leading to the accident are yet to be fully ascertained. The authorities are engaged in their investigation to determine the cause of this unfortunate incident.
