Pune: 35,000 Affordable Homes to Be Built Under PM Awas Yojana in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Rural Areas

Pune, 22nd April 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced the construction of 35,000 affordable homes in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
The initiative aims to provide housing for economically weaker sections, specifically families with an annual income of ₹3 lakh or less.
The announcement was made following a planning meeting held at Sakhar Sankul. Pawar stated that land has already been identified for the project in various locations, including Bavdhan. The homes will be built using modern construction technologies and eco-friendly methods, and will include basic amenities such as lifts and solar power systems. The expected lifespan of these structures is approximately 80 years.
To make the housing more accessible, the state government will offer a subsidy of ₹2.5 lakh to eligible families. Additionally, registered construction workers will receive an extra ₹2 lakh subsidy from the construction welfare board. In a further move to reduce financial burden, the government plans to cap stamp duty at ₹1,000 and coordinate with banks to ensure low-interest home loans with manageable monthly installments.
