Pune: 34 Officers Complete Marine Engineering Specialisation Course at INS Shivaji in Lonavala

Lonavala, 2nd July 2024: 34 officers comprising 21 from the Indian Navy, four from Indian Coast Guard, eight from Sri Lankan and one international officer from Myanmar successfully completed 105 weeks of Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) at INS Shivaji, Lonavala. RAdm Subir Mukherjee, NM, Admiral Superintendent of Yard, NSRY(Kochi) was Chief Guest for the course completion ceremony held on 29 Jun 24.

As part of course curriculum, the officers underwent rigorous watchkeeping onboard warships and undertook challenging Marine Engineering projects. The officers inculcated an aptitude for technical assignments and research through a wide array of projects, ranging from development of working prototype model of Gas Turbine from a Turbocharger as a Training Aid to development of Solar Power Integrated Electric OBM Propelled vessel. 

During the ceremonial parade awards were presented to officers excelling in various fields by the Chief Guest. Lt Shinde Pranav Rangarao was awarded the ‘Best All-Round Officer’ and  ‘Positive Living Officer’ trophies. ‘Best Sportsman’ trophy was awarded to Lt Rohit S Nair. Lt Rishabh Agnihotri was awarded the ‘First in Order of Academic Merit’ and ‘Best International Officer Trainee’ was awarded to Lt WPAS  Weerawardhana of Srilankan Navy.
