Pimpri, 31st August 2024: As many as 26 commercial properties in the Chikhli, Kudalwadi, and Talwade areas have been sealed due to the lack of a Fire Prevention System despite two notices. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) informed that action will continue against properties without the Fire Prevention System.

In the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, incidents of personal and commercial losses are constantly happening due to fires in industrial and commercial properties. It has been pointed out that these incidents happened due to a lack of fire prevention measures on the properties.

Also, it has been seen that dangerous substances are stored in commercial places. The Fire Department of the PCMC conducted a fire prevention survey of the industrial and commercial properties in the city to prevent accidents in the future.

Among the properties surveyed, hazardous property owners were given first notice to install fire-fighting systems considering the availability of fire-fighting systems, safe means of movement, storage of hazardous substances, and residential occupancy.

A second notice is issued to property owners who have not taken any action. Even after two notices were issued, some property owners did not take fire safety measures. Therefore, action has been taken to shut off the water and electricity supply of the properties and seal as many as 26 properties in Chikhli, Kudalwadi, and Talwade areas.

Deputy Commissioner of Fire Department Manoj Lonkar informed that it is mandatory to take necessary fire prevention measures in the building, keep them in operation, and submit the certificate from the licensed organization to the Fire Department. “This is the responsibility of the building owner or occupant. The properties are being closed due to lack of measures taken by professionals,” he added further.
