Pune: 24-Hour Manhunt Leads to Arrest of Dumper Driver in Wagholi Accident

Wagholi, 7th October 2024: A tragic collision in Pune’s Wagholi claimed the life of a woman after her two-wheeler was struck by a dumper yesterday. The driver fled the scene with the vehicle, but Lonikand Police apprehended him within 24 hours.

The driver has been identified as Anil Ashok Mudalkar (32), a resident of Wagholi. The dumper is owned by Vikas Popat Kolekar (35), a resident of Hadapsar. Vishwanath Hebbatam (32), the victim’s husband, filed a complaint at the Lonikand Police Station.

The accident took place at around 9:45 AM on the Pune-Ahmednagar Highway, in front of Chitali Sweet Home. The dumper collided with the two-wheeler, resulting in the immediate death of Siri Chandana Chinta, while her husband Vishwanath sustained injuries. Although the dumper’s registration number was not initially visible in CCTV footage, police tracked the vehicle’s movement using footage from other areas, eventually locating and arresting the driver.
