Pune: 17-Year-Old Dies in Speeding Motorcycle Crash; Senior Citizen Among Injured

Erandwane, 25th October 2024: A tragic incident involving the death of an underage motorcyclist occurred recently in Pune’s Erandwane area. The youth, who was not legally permitted to drive, lost control of his speeding Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle, colliding with a divider and injuring two pedestrians—a senior citizen and another youth.

The deceased has been identified as Yash Kamlesh Dahiwal (17), a resident of Sinhagad Road. The injured pedestrians are Shrikant Dattatraya Datar (86, Karve Nagar) and Jayaraj Rajesh Hulge (18, Sinhagad Road). Police Constable Ramdas Gore reported the incident to Alankar Police Station.

According to the police, Yash, a college student, was returning home from the Erandwane area at approximately 4:50 PM yesterday. He lost control while riding on Appasaheb Kulkarni Path, causing the speeding motorcycle to strike a divider. Yash suffered severe head injuries, and both pedestrians, Datar and Hulge, were also injured in the collision. All three were rushed to the hospital, but Yash succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.

Upon receiving the news, Senior Police Inspector Sunita Rokade and Police Inspector (Crime) Surekha Chavan arrived at the scene. The case is currently under investigation by Police Sub-Inspector Dixit.
