Pune, 29th July 2024: A technical failure at Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd’s (MahaTransco) Jejuri 400 KV High Voltage substation led to a power outage in several parts of Pune city on Monday evening. The incident occurred at 8:11 PM, causing a half-hour interruption in power supply for approximately 2.75 lakh consumers.

The malfunction at the Jejuri Extra High Pressure Substation created a power deficit in transmission, necessitating the activation of the automatic Load Trimming Scheme (LTS) system to prevent potential dangers and further failures in the transmission network. As a result, power supply to the 220 KV ultra high voltage substations in Fursungi, Parvati, and Nanded City was halted.

Affected areas included Parvati, Nanded City, Sinhagad Road, Vadgaon Dhairi, Peshwa Park, Navi Peth, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Ambegaon, Ganga Village, Kalepadal, Mohammadwadi, Syed Nagar, Undri, Pisoli, Manjri, Bhekrainagar, and other nearby localities. The interruption lasted until 8:38 PM, when MahaTransco technicians successfully restored power.
