Mumbai/Pune, 17th May 2023: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) convened today under the chairmanship of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to discuss and approve the authority’s budget for the year, amounting to Rs 1,926 crore.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde made a significant announcement, stating that the authority would waive off 100 percent of the additional development fees imposed on development and construction projects for a five-year period, ranging from July 2018 to April 2023.

The 10th PMRDA authority meeting took place at Sahyadri guest house, with Pune Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil participating through the videoconferencing system. Key attendees included Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Nitin Karir, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Rahul Mahiwal, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and other officials.

One of the major topics discussed during the meeting was the proposal to increase the additional development fee arrears for projects sanctioned between July 18, 2018, and April 16, 2023, due to the announcement of the Pune Metro Line 3 as a significant urban transport project. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed that the increased additional development charges for this five-year period be waived. He instructed authorities to explore the feasibility of levying the additional development fee sector-wise instead of applying it uniformly. The amount of additional development charges waived is estimated to be around Rs 332 crore.

During the meeting, the authority also approved the transfer of 6.50 acres of land in Moshi, Pune (PIECC) to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation for the construction of a memorial dedicated to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The submission of the PMRDA’s development plan by June 20 was emphasized. The Pune Ring Road Project, the allocation of development funds for 11 and 23 villages under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation, and the implementation of the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2023 in the PMRDA area were also approved.

The operation of Pune Mahanagar Parivahana Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses in the PMRDA area and the allocation of funds for their functioning received approval. The Chief Minister marked the occasion by releasing the budget booklet of the authority.
