PMPML Plans Vibrant E-Double Deckers for Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune, 9th December 2023: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is considering the addition of modern E-double decker buses to its existing fleet.
Satish Gate, PMPML’s Public Relations Officer, shared that the proposal for introducing these buses is currently under consideration. Upon final approval, 12 buses are set to operate in Pune, while 8 buses will serve Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Designed to be visually appealing, vibrant, and comfortable, the new double decker buses aim to meet the contemporary travel preferences of commuters. Responding to the current demand, the proposal also includes the introduction of AC E-buses on Pune’s roads.
The initial introduction of an E-bus in 2019 garnered a positive response, with thousands of Pune commuters choosing this eco-friendly option daily. Consequently, the number of charging stations has been increased to accommodate the growing demand.
Key features of the proposed E-double decker buses include:
– A thrilling upper-deck experience, reminiscent of Mumbai’s iconic double-decker buses.
– The design of the PMPML’s double-decker buses will be akin to Mumbai’s renowned ‘BEST’ double-decker buses.
– The E-double decker buses are designed to accommodate approximately 36 passengers on the upper deck, 36 passengers on the lower deck, and 11 standing passengers.
Pending the final decision, these proposed additions align with PMPML’s commitment to offering enhanced and eco-friendly transportation options for the residents of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
