Pune, 25th September 2024: Since this morning, Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have been severely affected by heavy rainfall. The rain, which had been absent for the past week, has returned with a ‘vengeance’. This downpour is expected to continue, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune City for the next 24 hours. This weather situation coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to the city tomorrow, where his trip will be overshadowed by the rain.

Tomorrow, at Sir Parashurambhau College (SP College), PM Modi will inaugurate the Pune District Court Metro Station and Swargate Metro Station, along with approximately 15 other projects. The IMD has forecast heavy rains in Maharashtra until 27th September. PM Modi’s meeting will take place at the SP College grounds in Pune, where major preparations are underway. However, the rain from yesterday and today has saturated the ground, making it inaccessible due to mud and water, resulting in a slippery and unstable surface.

In the meantime, heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds are predicted in the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar, and Nashik. A red alert has been issued for Pune district for the next 24 hours. As a result, it is evident that the rain will impact Prime Minister Modi’s program in Pune tomorrow.
