PM Modi’s Pune Visit: Roads Closed, Businesses Affected, and Citizens Struggle

Pune, 1st August 2023: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, major roads in the central region of Pune city were closed for traffic, causing inconvenience to citizens and disrupting daily activities. However, after noon, the roads in the central part were gradually reopened to traffic, restoring some normalcy to the city.

Many roads in the areas of Laxmi road, Tilak road, Shivaji Road, Fergusson College Road, and Bajirao Road were affected due to changes in the traffic system for the Prime Minister’s visit. The traffic police had announced that the roads would be gradually opened after PM Modi’s convoy left. As a result, most schools declared a holiday, but government offices and private companies continued to function, causing trouble for professionals and employees who had to find alternative routes to reach work.

The suspension of PMPML bus services on several central routes inconvenienced working women in particular. Businesses in Sadashiv Peth, Tilak Road, Narayan Peth, Shaniwar Peth, and Deccan Gymkhana area were forced to close during the visit. The roads were finally reopened and traffic restored after 4 pm, easing the situation for citizens and businesses in the city.
