PM Modi to Deliver 11th Independence Day Speech from Red Fort After Winning Third Term

New Delhi, 14th August 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver his 11th consecutive Independence Day speech from the Red Fort in New Delhi on Thursday, marking his first address after securing a third term in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Modi will hoist the Indian flag and make his traditional speech from the iconic Red Fort.

This year’s Independence Day theme, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, highlights the government’s initiatives aimed at making India a developed nation by 2047, as stated in an official release.

Approximately 6,000 special guests, representing various segments of society, including youth, the tribal community, farmers, and women, have been invited to attend the event.

Event Schedule at the Red Fort
Upon arriving at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi will be welcomed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.

Defence Secretary Aramane will introduce Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, the General Officer Commanding (GoC) for Delhi, to the Prime Minister. Following this, Modi will move to the Saluting Base, where a combined Guard of Honour from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police will present a salute.

After reviewing the Guard of Honour, Modi will proceed to the Red Fort’s ramparts, where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari will greet him.

The GoC for Delhi will escort the Prime Minister to the dais for the flag-hoisting ceremony.

Lieutenant Sanjeet Saini will assist in the flag unfurling, which will coincide with a 21-gun salute from the 1721 Field Battery.

During the flag hoisting, the National Flag Guard, consisting of one officer and 32 members each from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and 128 personnel from Delhi Police, will render a ‘Rashtriya Salute’. Commander Vinay Dubey will lead the combined Guard.

The Punjab Regiment Military Band, comprising one junior commissioned officer and 25 soldiers, will play the National Anthem during the flag ceremony.

Following the flag hoisting, two Indian Air Force Advanced Light Helicopters will fly over the Red Fort, showering flower petals.

Afterwards, Modi will deliver his address to the nation.

After his speech, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets will sing the National Anthem.
