In further events, players from Mumbai such as Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been invited to the Maharashtra Assembly on Friday to meet Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Prime Minister Modi has always shown keen interest in sports and promptly congratulated the team upon their T20 World Cup triumph last week. He had previously attended the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final last year and aims to inspire the nation’s youth through achievements in sports.

Despite challenges, including delays caused by Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, which temporarily stranded them, the team finally returned home on a specially arranged Air India charter flight AIC24WC.

Upon arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, amidst heavy security, enthusiastic fans welcomed the players with cheers and posters of their favourite stars. The team proceeded to their hotel before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for a reception.

Later today, the players will participate in grand celebrations in Mumbai, including an open bus victory parade and a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, marking India’s second T20 World Cup title and its first ICC trophy in eleven years.
