Plogging: Youths Come Together To Clean Pavana River

Chinchwad, February 7, 2021: Unmukta Youth Organization (UYC) and Pune Ploggers today jointly organised a Plogging Drive at Pavana River, Thergaon bridge, in which about 40 youths from Pune as well as Pimpri Chinchwad City participated.

They collected a huge amount of waste, which included plastic waste, different types of clothes, alcohol bottles and flower garlands. The youths also appealed to the citizens to maintain the sanctity of the river and demanded the local Health Inspector to penalise people violating rules and dumping waste in the river.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) sanitation department head Dr K Anil Roy, B Ward Health Officer Kulkarni, Local Health Inspector Channl, Supervisor Gawande helped this drive by providing a garbage van. They also guided the youths.

“It was not possible to collect all the waste in one drive hence we have resolved to arrange more such drives there to clean the river there. UYO also appeals to more youths to join such drives in the city to make it neat and clean”, Unmukta Youth Organization stated in a press release.
