Pimpri: Family Of Rape Survivor Demand Justice From DCP

Pimpri, 15th February 2023: In Pimpri-Chinchwad, family members of a 17-year-old victim of sexual assault went to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) and demanded justice. The accused allegedly threatened the family with death, according to the family.

On Monday, the family protested to DCP (zone-1) Vivek Patil and demanded that the offender, who had been arrested by the police for offences under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused allegedly verbally abused the victim and her family while harbouring a grudge against them. The victim alleged in her complaint that the defendants and their family members were putting the lives of her family members in danger and had been making death threats against them. Despite being their family, the accused nevertheless made their lives miserable.

“On 7th February, the accused physically and verbally assaulted my mother. Despite their verbal and physical assault on me, I went to resolve the situation. The Chakan Mahalunge Police station received a complaint regarding this, and an offence was reported there,” the complainant said.

The victim alleged in her complaint that the accused and his family members were putting the lives of her family members in danger and had been making death threats against them. Despite being their family, the accused nevertheless made their lives miserable.

“They had abused us before this incident. We had filed a police report. However, nothing was done. We are bothered by them. The accused has a criminal history and has also been detained by the police in earlier incidents. The lives of my family and I were threatened. They repeatedly attacked members of my family,” she added.

Senior PI Dnyaneshwar Sable of the Mahalunge-Chakan Police Station stated, “Four persons have been arrested as a result of the victim’s complaint. The inquiry is still ongoing. We ensure that no one is treated unfairly. However, the subject has been overly emphasised and handled differently.”
