Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th June 2024: Two women have been duped of a substantial amount in two separate incidents in Pimpri Chinchwad. Both incidents involved promises related to the share market, resulting in a combined loss of more than Rs 53 lakh. These fraudulent activities occurred within the jurisdictions of Hinjawadi and Wakad Police Stations.

In the first case, a 41-year-old woman approached Hinjawadi Police Station after losing over Rs 26 lakh. Anurag Rathi and Kavish Thakkar, whose full details are unknown, contacted her through Facebook and convinced her to join a WhatsApp group. They guided stock market investments and instructed her to transfer money, claiming they could manage investments through an application called MTPS. They fraudulently obtained Rs 26,60,283 from her. Hinjawadi Police are currently investigating the matter.

Similarly, a 39-year-old woman filed a complaint with Wakad Police Station, alleging she was defrauded of more than Rs 26 lakh. Multiple unknown individuals created fake trademarks under the guise of the parent company MSFL Gujarat, fabricated the identities of directors, and set up a bogus web application for the company. They lured her into investing in block trades and IPOs, promising returns. Initially, they showed her a supposed return of Rs 63,90,000 on her investment of Rs 26,50,000 across different bank accounts. After that, they demanded an additional Rs 12,78,000 as commission. When she refused and requested the return of her original investment amount, they cheated her. Wakad Police have initiated an investigation into this incident.
