Pimpri Chinchwad, December 8, 2020: In a bid to address citizen woes against traffic violations, Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police have launched a WhatsApp number which can be used by the citizens for any seen traffic violation.

This decision has also been taken as due to the Coronavirus(COVID-19) situation people are unable to come to the office and report any violations. “Citizens can now register cases such as violations especially auto-rickshaw violations or send us any sort of suggestions through this WhatsApp helpline number 9529681078”, ACP (Traffic) Shrikant Disale told Punekarnews. in.

Disale also informed that this decision was taken after Diwali as it was difficult for citizens to give any information to police, during the pandemic. “This WhatsApp helpline is the bridge connecting people with the traffic police”, he added.

Around Rs 5.6 lakh of fines have been collected in the last one month and it’s difficult for CCTV cameras to capture violations, however, the police are doing the work manually. Therefore, WhatsApp number 9529681078 will help the police to take necessary actions.

Tejaswini Dhomse Sawai, president, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation said, “The initiative is to prevent all kinds of issues such as crime, traffic violation, etc on roads and also lack of police personnel and we welcome this step.”
