Upon receiving the message over the wireless, the beat marshal of the newly formed Bavdhan Police Station chased the suspect until Shirwal in Satara District and successfully rescued the girl.

The chase covered nearly 52 kilometres and lasted several hours. The arrested suspect has been identified as Wasim Abdulkarim Shah (22), a resident of Jadhavwadi, Chikhali. A 33-year-old relative of the girl filed a complaint at the Chikhli Police Station.

According to the police, the 14-year-old girl, a relative of the complainant, was abducted by the accused in a tempo with registration number MH 14 KA 6548 around 2:30 AM on Sunday. Once the relatives discovered her disappearance, they reported it to the Chikhali Police Station. Considering the gravity of the situation, the Chikhali Police immediately relayed the tempo’s details and information about the accused to all police stations via wireless.

The beat marshal of Bavdhan police spotted the tempo and began chasing it, but due to the vehicle’s speed, they couldn’t catch up. However, at a road construction site in Shirwal, where traffic was moving slowly, the Bavdhan police were able to stop the tempo by blocking it with their two-wheeler. The accused was taken into custody, and the minor girl was safely rescued. The swift actions of the Chikhali Police and the Bavdhan police beat marshal have been praised for their prompt response.
