Pimpri Chinchwad Police Register Case Against Gram Sevak and Others After Suicide Over Unpaid Wages

Chakan, 31st May 2024: A person committed suicide due to non-payment for work. The individual alleged that the Gram Sevak (Village Development Officer) of the village was responsible, and the Pimpri Chinchwad Police have registered a case against eight people. This incident occurred in Daundkarwadi in Khed Taluka on May 27.

The individual who committed suicide has been identified as Ramesh Machindra Mohite (age 45, resident of Daundkarwadi). Akash Ramesh Mohite (age 24, resident of Daundkarwadi) complained to the Chakan Police Station. A criminal case has been registered against the Gram Sevak of Nighoje, Vishnu Lakshaman Gadilkar (resident of Shirur), Bhaskar Jadhav, Vilas Bhaskar Jadhav, Sanjay Bhimrao Jadhav, Rajkanya Bhaskar Jadhav, Anjali Vikas Mohite, Rupesh Daundkar and an unknown person.

According to police reports, Ramesh Mohite committed suicide by hanging himself at his home. Three letters were found in his pants. In one of the letters, it was mentioned, “The Gram Sevak of Nighoje Gram Panchayat, Vishnu Gadilkar, hasn’t paid me Rs 1.50 lakh for the work I did. When I asked him, he said he wouldn’t give me the money, he said would destroy my family, and he also threatened to kill me.”

In the second letter, it was mentioned that the complainant’s brother Vikas’s in-laws had threatened to kill Vikas and Ramesh. Ramesh is Vikas’s and the complainant’s father. The letter mentions that these two reasons led to the suicide of Ramesh Mohite.

Regarding this, Chakan Police have registered a case against the accused under IPC sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention). Police Sub Inspector Sukale from Chakan Police Station is investigating the matter further.
