Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th May 2024: The majority of crimes committed daily occur during the nighttime, concealed by darkness. This encompasses various criminal activities perpetrated by individuals. Despite police being on duty during late hours, they often struggle to prevent these occurrences. In response, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has launched an initiative called ‘Area Domination’ to address and mitigate nighttime crime activities.

Recently, various crimes have rocked the Pune district, including the Porsche car accident that claimed two lives last week. In the early hours of today in Pimpri, a car driver struck a two-wheeler rider in an alleged attempt to kill him, purportedly due to a love triangle, resulting in serious injuries to the victim. During nighttime, people are usually relaxed at home, but incidents like these threaten the peace for ordinary citizens.

Against the backdrop of recent incidents, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has introduced a new initiative aimed at minimizing nighttime crime. Under this initiative, separate teams from each police station, consisting of CR Mobiles accompanied by multiple bikes, will patrol the streets of Pimpri Chinchwad, serving as guardians for the community during the night hours. The primary objective of this initiative is to curb the activities of antisocial elements and nuisance-makers who tend to loiter around the city during late hours.

In addition to regular patrols, PCPC officials will also ensure compliance with regulations, such as enforcing closing times for pubs, hotels, and restaurants. They will actively deter citizens from engaging in drunk driving. Through this initiative, the aim is to not only maintain law and order but also to mitigate various forms of crime, including those potentially arising during the ongoing election season.
