Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th October 2024: After sending five proposals over six years of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) tenure, the Maharashtra State Government has finally approved a location for the PCPC Headquarters. The headquarters will be established on 50 acres of land in Tathawade, one of the central areas of Pimpri Chinchwad City. On Wednesday, Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey discussed the matter with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune District, Ajit Pawar. By Thursday, the land was officially approved.

The PCPC was initially approved by then-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 15th August 2018, along with the establishment of the Mira Bhayandar Police Commissionerate. At that time, PCPC operations were started in a Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) school building in Chinchwad, with the headquarters set up in Nigdi. While nine acres of land in Moshi were acquired for the PCPC, the need for headquarters space persisted. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Development of Maharashtra State owns land in Tathawade, and 50 acres of this land were proposed by the PCPC due to its central location. The Maharashtra State Government has now approved the site.

The PCPC administration, led by Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey and previous commissioners, consistently pushed for the site for the headquarters. Efforts at the senior level, including proposals for a dog squad, a police rest house at Dehu, and land at Moshi for the administrative building, culminated in this approval. In addition to the Moshi land, 15 acres in Kaspate Wasti for police officers’ residences and 50 acres for the headquarters have been secured.

Vinoy Kumar Choubey commented, “Proposals for necessary matters for the PCPC have been submitted, and space has been made available for the headquarters. This will ensure that various departments of the PCPC will have their rightful place.”

The new police headquarters will house:

– Police Recruitment and Parade Ground

– Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad
– Quick Response Team (QRT)
