Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrest Thief Targeting Devotees During Palkhi Procession

Alandi, July 1, 2024: A large crowd from across Maharashtra gathers at Alandi and Dehu in Pune District for the Palkhi Procession Ceremony of Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. Amidst this gathering, many lawbreakers attempt robberies, pickpocketing, and theft of valuables. However, Pimpri Chinchwad Police have sent a clear message to these criminals by arresting an individual involved in theft incidents at Alankapuram Chowk and Dehu Phata, all within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner (PCPC).

Tushar Vishwanath Kakade, 44, a resident of Charholi Budruk, filed a complaint at Dighi Police Station. The police subsequently arrested the culprit, Bhagwan Vasant Gaikwad, 30, a resident of Beed, and registered a case under IPC Section 392 (punishment for robbery).

According to police reports, during the Sant Shresth Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Ceremony Procession at Amba Stop, Alankapuram Chowk, the accused snatched a 10-gram gold chain valued at Rs 30,000 from Kakade. Subsequently, at Dehu Phata in Alandi, the accused seized a 13-gram gold chain worth Rs 39,000 from Sameer Chandurwar. The police arrested the accused during patrol, and Police Constable Pote filed the complaint at Dighi Police Station.
