Bhosari, 21st October 2024: For the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, from the Bhosari constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has again given the ticket to sitting MLA Mahesh Landge in its initial list of 99 candidates, giving him a chance to score a hat-trick of MLA victories. There is also speculation that if the Mahayuti government comes to power, Landge will be made a minister in the Maharashtra Cabinet due to his consistent performance.

Mahesh Landge first became an MLA in 2014 when he was a corporator. At that time, he rebelled against the NCP and contested the election as an independent. After winning, he joined the BJP. Under his leadership, BJP contested the 2017 municipal elections and, for the first time, came to power in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). He also served as the city president of the BJP in Pimpri Chinchwad from 2020 to 2023, and he won the 2019 election running on the BJP ticket.

There was strong speculation that Landge would get a position in the Maharashtra Cabinet during the expansion of the Mahayuti government after the fall of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, but that opportunity was missed. Now, he has already started campaigning ahead of the official announcement of his candidacy for the 2024 elections.

Currently, Landge has no rivals within Mahayuti, as those who were interested have left long ago, eliminating the possibility of a rebellion in Bhosari. This has made Landge confident of victory. The rival Mahavikas Aghadi candidate has not been announced yet, but former corporators have begun campaigning as candidates for the Nationalist Congress Sharadchandra Pawar Party (NCP-SP)
