Pimpri Chinchwad: Assault at Dr DY Patil Hospital: Doctor, Nurse, and Security Staff Attacked
Pimpri, 28th June 2024: A criminal case has been registered in Pimpri Chinchwad Hospital for creating chaos, where a doctor, a male nurse, and a female security staff were assaulted and verbally abused for allegedly not expediting medical procedures. The incident occurred in the Emergency Ward of Dr DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre at 2 AM yesterday.
The male nurse, Shubham Dilip Narude (30 years old, resident of Pimpri, native of Buldhana), filed a complaint at Pimpri Police Station. Pimpri Police have registered a case against Ajay Sadanand More under IPC Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), along with relevant sections of The Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act of 2010.
According to police reports, the complainant was on duty as a male nurse in the emergency ward when the accused arrived and began disrespectfully demanding expedited medical attention. The accused instructed the nurse to administer saline, and provide treatment and questioned why fees were demanded upfront. He escalated the situation by verbally abusing and causing a disturbance. When Doctor Navman Khan intervened, the accused allegedly pushed and grabbed the complainant nurse’s shirt collar. Following that, when a female security staff member attempted to intervene, she was allegedly pushed hard, resulting in an injury to her left bicep from hitting a door.
Police Sub Inspector Ganesh Aatwe from Pimpri Police Station is conducting further investigations into the matter.
