Pimpri Chinchwad: 29 Incidents Of Tree Fall, Waterlogging Reported

Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 15, 2020: Heavy rains in Pimpri-Chinchwad caused a flood-like situation last night. The road had turned into a lake due to water in many places. There have been 29 incidents of falling trees in some places in the city and of water entering the houses. Due to heavy rains, firefighters, as well as civilians, have come forward to help. As the Pune District Collector has lifted the ban on tourist spots in Lonavla area, so many tourists will rush to the spot which will lead to an increase in the crowd, including the Bhushi Dam. Lonavala received 76 mm of rainfall on Wednesday night.

 

Pimpri-Chinchwad had been receiving moderate rains for the past two days. However, at about 9 pm on Wednesday, the rain intensified with a sudden thunderstorm and a torrential downpour. The torrential rain continued until midnight and then there was moderate rainfall. The low-lying areas of the city were flooded. Also, many had to stay awake all night because of the floods.

 

Sangvi, Chikhali, Nigdi Pradhikaran, Bhosari, Pimpri, Kalewadi, Morwadi, Thergaon and many other places were flooded with water. Lonavala and Maval areas also experienced heavy rains.
