PepsiCo India and The Social Lab organize the Plog Run 2024 in Pune, marking Swachh Bharat Diwas

Pune, 28th September 2024: PepsiCo India, in collaboration with The Social Lab (TSL), led the 2nd city edition of the Plog Run at PepsiCo India Holdings Plant, Ranjangaon, Pune, as part of its commitment to driving awareness on plastic waste management. This initiative, aligned to the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, brings together fitness and sustainability, with volunteers collecting plastic waste while jogging.  Chandan Chaturvedi, Plant Head – Pune, PepsiCo India flagged off the Plog Run.

This year’s Plog Run saw over nearly 110 participants, including employees, volunteers, and local citizens, covering 1.2 kilometers stretch while collecting 289 kilograms of plastic waste. All the plastic waste collected will be segregated and recycled, contributing to PepsiCo India’s goal of ensuring that plastic waste is repurposed, not discarded.

Chandan Chaturvedi, Plant Head – Pune, PepsiCo India, shared, “At PepsiCo India, our guiding principle of ‘Partnership of Progress’ is about fostering collective responsibility to build a more sustainable future. Through the Plog Run, we are contributing further to raising consumer awareness about plastic recycling and driving a circular economy for plastic. The success of this event reflects the power of collective action in driving meaningful, long-term change, for a cleaner, more responsible ecosystem in Pune.”

The Plog Run 2024 is being organized across multiple states, including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Kolkata and Assam, with over 3,000 volunteers joining the run for a good cause. By combining fitness with environmental action, the initiative continues to educate diverse communities on the importance of plastic waste management and responsible recycling, aligning with PepsiCo India’s broader efforts to promote sustainability. PepsiCo India’s ‘Partnership of Progress’ is at the heart of the event, with Varun Beverages Limited, Decathlon, Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gatorade and Quaker supporting the cause. Through initiatives like this, PepsiCo India and its partners work collectively to minimize environmental impact while driving awareness about recycling plastic waste into useful items.
