‘Peace Begins on Your Plate’: Powerful Protest by Mercy For Animals in Pune

Pune, 20th September 2024: The ‘Mercy For Animals’ India Foundation held a striking demonstration in front of Westside Mall, Pune, on Thursday, calling for a shift to plant-based diets to promote peace and reduce animal cruelty. Themed “Peace Begins on Your Plate,” the protest featured activists dressed as meat, lying on a giant plate surrounded by vegetables, with a large knife and fork beside them. The demonstration highlighted the link between meat consumption and violence, urging people to reconsider their dietary habits.
“Animals raised for food endure immense suffering because of our thoughtless dietary choices. By choosing a plant-based lifestyle, we can create a more compassionate and peaceful world for all,” said Kushal Sammaddar, Organizing Coordinator at Mercy For Animals India.
The NGO hopes that events like these will encourage broader discussions about animal welfare and the impact our food choices have on fostering global peace.
