Pimpri Chinchwad, 1 April 2021: All educational institutions in Pimpri Chinchwad have been asked to remain completely shut till April 30. As COVID cases continue to surge in the twin cities, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued a revised advisory for the educational institutions in the city.

A notification in this regard signed by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil has stated that all primary and secondary schools and colleges, except for class X and XII (which have board exams soon) have been asked to continue through online medium. The class X and XII board examinations are scheduled to be held in the months of April and May this year.

Coaching classes too have been asked to remain shut until the end of the month. However, the UPSC/MPSC classes will be allowed to be conducted with 50 percent of students in the class at a time, and as long as they follow the other COVID-related protocol prescribed for them.

Those found to be violating the advisory would be penalised under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 188, the notification said.
