Ravet, June 27, 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has registered a case against six individuals for illegally dumping waste into the Pawana River. The action follows an incident on Wednesday, June 26th, in Ravet.

Junior Engineer Swapnil Patil of PCMC filed a complaint at Ravet Police Station, resulting in the registration of a case against Sitaram Bhondwe, Gulab Bhondwe, Vilas Bhondwe, Dnyaneshwar Bhondwe, Popat Bhondwe, and Sahebrao Bhondwe. They are charged under IPC Sections 271 (disobedience to quarantine rule), 277 (fouling water of public spring or reservoir), and relevant sections of the Environment Protection Act of 1986.

The contaminated water from the dam was subsequently pumped into the city, posing significant health risks to its residents. PCMC responded promptly upon discovering the incident, taking stringent measures by initiating criminal proceedings.
