PCMC And Other Agencies Organise Mock Drill To Check Preparedness To Handle Industrial Gas Leakage Situation
Pimpri 13th July 2023: To check preparedness of disaster management teams during gas leakage in the industrial areas, ‘On-Site Joint Mock Drill’ was organised by the Disaster Management department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation along with Industrial Security Corporation, and Tata Motors. The mock drill was organised in Chinchwad at the Tata Motors facility.
The objective of this mock drill was to simulate how to deal with emergencies during crisis situations. In the event of a disaster, it is crucial to understand how long it takes for the fire brigade teams to reach the site and how quickly other emergency responses can be provided. Every three months, a crisis management training program will be organized with the participation of other companies. Volunteers and common citizens will also be provided emergency training from the Fire Department, said Joint Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar.
The officials said that information regarding the mock drill was not disclosed with anyone. All firefighting officials and employees were summoned for an emergency situation. If such a situation arises, the response time for the fire brigade, medical teams, and related machinery to reach the site and bring the situation under control can be determined. The municipal corporation and Tata Motors’ firefighting team responded excellently to the mock drill, said chief of disaster management cell of Pimpri Chinchwad Om Prakash Bahiwal.
The municipal corporation will continue to organize such mock drills to raise awareness among companies in the city, enabling them to envision how to handle crisis situations. According to Commissioner Shekhar Singh, further planning has been arranged in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the police force to conduct on-site and off-site mock drills every three to four months.
