Pimpri, 22 April 2021: Many people have complained that ambulance drivers are charging more money from the relatives of Covid patients. Therefore, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued revised charges.

According to the charges, three types of ambulances can charge Rs 11 to Rs 13 per km. The fare for the first 25 km or two hours will be Rs 500 to Rs 900. It has also been made mandatory to affix the tariff on the inside of the ambulance.

Citizens are in dire need of ambulances to transport Covid patients to hospitals as well as to various diagnostic centres. Citizens and people’s representatives have complained that ambulance owners and drivers are charging extra fare for transporting patients. Therefore, a revised tariff has been published by RTO.

If any ambulance owner or driver charges more than the fixed fare, then a complaint should be sent by e-mail to [email protected] along with the vehicle number. Such complaints will be registered and action will be taken against them by the RTO’s flying squad.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Sub-Regional Transport Office (RTO) has appealed to all ambulance owners’ associations and hospitals to recognize the seriousness of the situation created on the background of Covid19 and not to charge extra fare from any patient.
