Pune, 30th July 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has secured second place in a recent survey assessing healthcare and medical services, with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) coming in third. The survey, conducted by the Director of Health Services, Maharashtra, evaluated the performance of 27 municipal corporations across the state. Sangli Municipal Corporation earned the top spot.

PCMC received a score of 38.93%, while PMC scored 35.11%. Sangli led with a score of 41.26%.

Dr. Vaishali Jadhav, Assistant Health Officer at PMC, noted that PMC was ranked 25th a few years ago but has improved to third place through significant effort. “While PMC is currently in third place, we are committed to enhancing our performance further,” she remarked.

In the previous year, Sangli Municipal Corporation was first, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation second, and PMC was third, with PCMC in fifth place.

The survey assessed several health initiatives, including child health, family planning, and disease management (dengue, HIV, etc.). It also reviewed financial allocations for medical services and the quality of care in hospitals and clinics.

Dr. Laxman Gophane, Health Officer at PCMC, highlighted the city’s commitment to providing high-quality medical care, noting the establishment of several hospitals to ensure free treatment for the underprivileged. “Our municipal doctors and staff offer excellent services at affordable rates, and we are expanding our facilities to meet growing needs. Patient satisfaction remains high due to the quality of care provided,” he said.

Shekhar Singh, PCMC Commissioner, shared on X (formerly Twitter), “PCMC’s second-place ranking in Maharashtra for medical services reflects our dedication to various health initiatives, including child health and disease management. I extend my sincere thanks to all Medical Department staff—nurses, doctors, technical staff, and others—for their hard work. PCMC aims to achieve the top rank nationally and will continue to work together to deliver exceptional healthcare to our community.”
