Patrolling Policeman Dead, Another Injured in Midnight Hit-and-Run in Pune

Khadki, 8th July 2024: A policeman lost his life, and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at midnight in the Bopodi area of Pune. The incident took place under the Harris Bridge on the old Pune-Mumbai highway at 1:40 am.

The victims, both beat marshals from the Khadki police station, were on their two-wheeler conducting a night patrol when they were struck by a speeding four-wheeler. The driver of the vehicle fled the spot immediately after the accident.

Policeman Samadhan Koli died on the spot due to the impact. His colleague, Sanjog Shinde, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Ruby Hall Clinic. His condition is reported to be stable, and he is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Senior police officers are present at the hospital, monitoring his recovery.

The teams from the Crime Branch are searching for the suspect involved in the hit-and-run.
