Pune, 4th July 2023: Pune Railway Station witnesses a daily footfall of approximately 1.25 to 1.5 lakhs. The absence of battery-operated carts at the station has been a significant challenge, particularly for elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, children, women, and patients.

In the past, a battery-operated cart service was initiated with the help of CSR funds. However, due to inadequate financial support, the service had to be discontinued. To address this issue, railway authorities have now partnered with a private company to reinstate the battery-operated cart service at Pune Railway Station. Passengers will have access to this service for a nominal charge of INR 50 per ride. Initially, two carts will be operational, with the possibility of increasing the number based on demand.

Dr. Milind Hirve, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager at Pune Division, stated to Punekar news that this service will be especially beneficial for senior citizens, children, pregnant women, and individuals with health issues. This collaboration between the railway authorities and private companies aims to provide improved convenience and value to passengers of all age groups and demographics.
