Pune, 17th April 2023: Pune witnessed a spectacular sight on the morning yesterday, as over 5300 women donning colorful sarees came together at Khashaba Jadhav Krida Sankul at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for the first-ever Taneira Saree Run in the city.

This event was organized by JJActive, a Bangalore-based fitness company that has been organizing this event in Bangalore for the past seven years. The Saree Run is an exclusive event for women, aimed at celebrating their ability to transform generations by transforming themselves.

The beauty of this event lies in the fact that it unites women of all ages, backgrounds, and economic statuses. Saree, being an integral part of an Indian woman’s lifestyle, acts as a binding force that unites women across caste, creed, and economic barriers. This platform provided women with the opportunity to share their challenges and find solutions to their fitness goals.

The Saree Run saw women come out in support of their own personal fitness, encouraging many more women to prioritize their health and well-being. The event witnessed mother-daughter duos, groups of friends, mother-in-law & daughter-in-law duos, groups of family members, and three generations of women (mother, daughter, granddaughter) participating with enthusiasm.

Several large ladies groups such as AWWA, Pinchi, etc., participated in huge numbers, championing the cause of women’s fitness. The Taneira Saree Run was not only about fitness but also about breaking social barriers that restrict women from prioritizing their health.

The event was graced by eminent personalities, including Dr. Geetali Tilak – Vice Chancellor, Dr. Medha Kulkarni – Professor and Ex-MLA, Aarti Bansode – ACP Khadki, Dr. Suchitra Kate – Ironman and one of the organizers of Satara Hill Half Marathon, Deepa Hirey – National Athlete, Vibhawari Deshpande – Actor, Ashwini Giri – Actor, and Subeena Arora – AWWA President, Southern Command.

The Taneira Saree Run was a beautiful celebration of women’s fitness, with the spirit of flowers being at the forefront of the event. The colorful sarees worn by the women resembled the vibrant petals of a flower, signifying the beauty and strength of women. The event was not only a celebration of fitness but also a celebration of the power of women coming together to achieve their goals.
