Pune, 12th October 2024: On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, Pune residents began booking vehicles over a month in advance. As a result, 10,601 vehicles, including 363 e-vehicles, were registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) this year.

However, compared to last year, the pace of vehicle purchases has slowed. Notably, the sale of e-vehicles has seen a significant decline, dropping by half.

Dussehra is one of the most important festivals in Hindu tradition, where people believe that purchasing vehicles, along with gold, silver, and clothes, is a part of celebrating the auspicious day. Every year, the number of vehicle purchases tends to increase around this time.

This year, 6,707 two-wheelers and 2,922 four-wheelers were registered on Dussehra. In addition, the Pune RTO reported that rickshaws, buses, taxis, and goods vehicles were also purchased in large numbers.

Last year, 6,144 two-wheelers and 3,482 four-wheelers were registered during the same festive occasion.
