Our Health Depends on the Health of the Environment: Dr. Venkatesh Thuppil

Pune, 12th April 2025: “Our health depends on the health of the environment, health of the agriculture and health of the animals, if any of these three factors suffer then our health will suffer hence we need to take care of these factors first and our health will be in a good state said, Dr. Venkatesh Thuppil, Professor Emeritus, St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, CEO & Director, Foundation for Quality India (FQI).

Symbiosis International University, organized the 27th Edition of SYMHEALTH 2025, a premier healthcare conference which was scheduled on 11th and 12th April at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (FoMHS), Lavale Pune. The theme of the conference was, “Advancing Equity and Inclusion: A Pathway to Achieving SDGs for Healthier Future Generations. The Valedictory Ceremony of the conference was organized on 12th April, Dr. Venkatesh Thuppil was invited as the Guest of Honour for the ceremony. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President, Symbiosis and Chancellor, Symbiosis International University presided over the function.

Speaking at the occasion Dr. Venkatesh Thuppil said, Lead, Cadmium and Mercury are heavy metals that can cause various health problems, including neurological, reproductive, and cardiovascular issues. The masala and turmeric which we use should be Lead and Mercury free. We must consume fresh food and avoid packed and processed ones.

Dr. S.B. Mujumdar in his presidential address mentioned the significance of today’s Hanuman Jayanti. He said, Hanuman is an icon and symbol of not only physical health but mental health also. All of us must take care of our health first and then the rest will follow in life.

Dr. Rajiv Yervadekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Symbiosis International University) gave the welcome address. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis and Pro Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, Dr. Parimala Veluvali, Director, Symbiosis School for Online and Digital Learning (SSODL) were the other distinguished dignitaries present for the function.
