Wadgaon Sheri, 23 September 2024: Two individuals died during an Eid-e-Milad procession in Wadgaon Sheri, Pune. The incident occurred when the two individuals who were hoisting flags came into contact with a high-voltage electric wire and were electrocuted. A case has been registered at Chandan Nagar Police Station against the chairman of their friend circle, who organized the procession, along with three others.

The Chandan Nagar Police have filed charges against Meme Boys Friend Circle Chairman Hussain Kadar Shaikh (35, resident of Wadgaon Sheri), Vikas Achyut Kamble (32), Akshay Baput Lawand (28), and Santosh Dhavji Date (36). The deceased were Abhay Amol Waghmare (17) and Zakaria Bilal Shaikh (19), both residents of Wadeshwar Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri.

Yesterday, during the Eid-e-Milad (Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary) celebrations, a large procession was underway. At approximately 10:30 AM, the procession reached Wadgaon Sheri Bhaji Mandai. Abhay Waghmare and several other young participants were hoisting flags attached to an iron rod when one of the flags came into contact with a high-voltage wire. This unfortunate incident resulted in the electrocution of both Abhay Waghmare and Zakaria Shaikh.

Officials from Chandan Nagar Police Station arrived at the scene promptly. During the investigation, it was revealed that Meme Boys Friend Circle Chairman Hussain Kadar Shaikh had failed to adhere to the guidelines, terms, and conditions set by the police. Kamble had placed a wooden plank on a tractor to create a platform, while Lawand and Date installed loudspeakers and LED screens on the tractor. According to a complaint filed by Police Constable Musale, the accident occurred because the platform exceeded the height limit.
