Old Mumbai-Pune Highway Accident Claims Life; Driver Severely Burned

Kamshet, 2nd October 2024: A fatal accident occurred today on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway when a trailer heading toward Pune lost control, overturned, and caught fire. One person died in the incident, while the trailer truck driver sustained severe injuries. The accident happened in Kamshet near Lonavala at around 6:15 AM.

The trailer driver, Abhishek, and his relative were transporting foil sheets when the accident occurred. The crash was caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle. After the trailer overturned, a fire ignited due to friction, resulting in the death of the man accompanying the driver, while Abhishek suffered severe injuries, with reports indicating he was burned over 40% of his body.

Sources have informed Punekar News that the collision trapped the driver and his companion inside, preventing them from escaping and leading to their burns.

Following the accident, Kamshet Police Station and the local fire brigade rushed to the scene. The injured driver is currently hospitalized in Kamshet, while the family of the deceased has yet to arrive at the hospital. Further details are awaited.
