Pimpri, 28th October 2023 – In a concerning turn of events, an Ola electric scooter, specifically the Ola S1 Pro, burst into flames earlier this morning at approximately 8:40 am. This alarming incident took place near the parking area adjacent to the D Y Patil Institute in Pimpri, Pune. This marks the second such occurrence in Pune involving Ola’s electric scooters. In March 2022, an Ola S1 Pro scooter had also caught fire in the Dhanori area of Pune. The repetition of such incidents has raised questions about the safety of Ola’s electric vehicles.

The incident prompted swift action from the local fire brigade, who promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. Their timely intervention successfully brought the situation under control, preventing any further damage.

Ola, the ride-sharing and electric vehicle company, is yet to provide detailed information regarding the incident, leaving the public and authorities awaiting official statements. This recent event has sparked concerns about the safety and reliability of electric scooters in India, a country where they are gaining immense popularity.

Ola has previously addressed a similar incident in March 2022 by initiating an investigation and reiterating its commitment to vehicle safety. They assured that appropriate measures would be taken to rectify any issues found.
