Now Pune Traffic Police Impound Vehicles For Wrong Direction Driving

Pune, 18th October 2024: The traffic police have initiated strict enforcement of the ban on heavy vehicles during rush hours in the city. A campaign is also underway targeting triple seating, driving under the influence, and drivers traveling in the wrong direction.

In the past 15 days, action has been taken against approximately 25,000 motorists, and more than 200 vehicles have been confiscated. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has warned that driving in the opposite direction will result in the vehicle being impounded for six months.

The number of accidents has risen due to increased rush hour traffic and violations of traffic rules. More drivers are reportedly traveling in the wrong direction. To combat this issue, the Traffic Branch has launched a concerted effort against unruly drivers. Commissioner Kumar stated that over 200 vehicles have been impounded in the last 15 days alone.

He further noted that construction and development works are ongoing in various areas of the city, and heavy vehicles are contributing to accidents during peak hours. As a result, heavy vehicles have been banned during morning and evening rush hours, with strict enforcement by the city’s traffic police.

– Driving in the Opposite Direction: 21,285

– Drunk Driving Offenses: 570
