Notorious Goon Gajanan Marne Arrested By Pune Police, Was Wanted In Businessman’s Kidnapping Case
Pune, 16th October 2022: Notorious gangster Gajanan Marne was arrested by the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Crime Branch from the Wai (Satara) area today.
Marne was absconding in the case of kidnapping a businessman and demanding ransom of Rs 20 Crores. Recently, action has been taken against his gang under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Crime Branch teams were on his trail.
Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner Srinivas Ghadge, and all senior officers were supervising the operation of arresting Marne.
The investigation has revealed that the Marne gang has committed various crimes to establish dominance in the Kothrud area. Apart from that, a few days ago, the gang kidnapped a businessman and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crores. In this case, the crime branch arrested Marne’s accomplices.
The proposal to take action against the gang as per MCOCA was submitted to Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta by Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of Anti-Extortion Squad (2) on behalf of DCP (Crime) Ghadge. Accordingly, action has been taken against the gang as per MCOCA. Crime Branch ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar is further investigating the case.
