Pune, 17th May 2024: Sanjay Kakade, a construction professional from Pune and a Rajya Sabha MP, received a major shock when a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him. The warrant stemmed from a case where a flat booking made with his company, Kakade Construction Company Private Limited, went wrong. Despite payment for the booking, the company neither signed the contract nor initiated construction, prompting the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) to order a refund with 9% interest. Anagha Ambetkar from Kothrud filed a complaint against the company after experiencing this issue with their housing project, Kothrud Bagh.

Ambetkar had paid Rs 21,34,081 towards a flat worth Rs 99,73,000 in November 2015. With no agreement signed and construction stalled, she canceled the booking in June 2017, demanding a refund. While the company returned Rs 5 lakh, the remainder was contested. The commission ordered a refund of Rs 16,34,810 with interest, along with Rs 50,000 towards complaint expenses in February 2023.

Psychometric Career Assessment Test

Despite the ruling, Kakade failed to comply with the order, prompting Ambetkar to seek enforcement through her lawyer, Adv. Gyanraj Sant. After a year without resolution and three opportunities for compliance, Adv. Sant argued for a non-bailable arrest warrant, resulting in its issuance against Sanjay Kakade.
